Delphi Medina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker w/ Clinical Supervisor designation (LCSW-S) as well as a Licensed Clinical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) for the State of Texas. She has received her undergraduate degree from UTMB at Galveston in Health Care Administration in 1993 and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from The University of Houston in 2009. She licensed w/ her LMSW in 2010 and received her clinical social worker designation in 2013.
Her career in the addictions and mental health field began in 1994 & received her LCDC in 1997. She works full time at Phillips 66 in their Employee Assistance Program as of May 2024 and received her experience in the employee assistance program field at UT Health Houston since 2010. She specializes in behavioral addictions and has been a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT-S) with Supervisor designation since 2006. She enjoys working with couples and families dealing with these specific issues and also has obtained certification as a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT-S) with Supervisor designation; Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist (CMAT-S) with Supervisor designation thru the International Institute of Trauma & Addiction Professionals (IITAP).
She has been very fortunate to have directly trained with Patrick Carnes, Rob Weiss, Terence Real, and mentored by Pia Mellody whom all are known in the addictions field. She also is a Certified Daring Way Facilitator (CDWF) which entails her having been educated in Brene Brown’s curriculum. She just recently completed her Certified Employee Assistance Professional certification (CEAP) in May 2024 issued by the International Employee Assistance Professionals Association.
Outside of her EAP experience and specialization in sexual addiction & betrayal trauma she has extensive experience working w/ couples in the following modalities: The Gottman Method founded by Dr.’s John & Julie Gottman (Level 3 Trained); Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) created by Dr. Sue Johnson (Completed EFT Externship & Core Skills 1-4 ); & PACT: Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy founded by Dr. Stan Tatkin (Level II PACT Clinician).
She is also Level 1 EMDR Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing through the EMDR International Association to address trauma issues with individuals. She is extremely proud of her numerous training hours w/ her mentor Pia Mellody (Founder/Fellow of The Meadows in Wickenburg, AZ) in her family of origin model called Post Induction Therapy (PIT) and has been facilitating and teaching this model since 2007.
In her spare time she is an avid bicyclist and rides numerous bike rides in the summer; watches her Houston Astros during baseball season; attended Texas A&M University for her first two years of undergraduate work and is a Former Student as well as being Cougar Proud from UH! She enjoys spending time w/ her family especially her niece, Amalia, her cats plus traveling with her family & friends.
