About this Talk

Explore common triggers that a betrayed partner can experience from the moment of discovery to well past a therapeutic disclosure and polygraph. Triggers can plague a betrayed partner in the safety/stabilization through grief phases and beyond. With treatment, a partner can experience healing and restoration of trust in themselves in order to make healthy choices for their future. This leads to internal strength and empowerment.

Many times partners spend time "reacting' rather than responding to their partner or the situation. This can be very painful and confusing to them and can produce feelings that are not congruent with who they were before the betrayal. Triggers can produce negative self-talk and negative beliefs such as "I'm not enough, or I'm too much, or I'm not worthy or I don't matter".

Again these can be incongruent with who they were before the betrayal. Through treatment, a partner can begin to find strength in trusting in themselves. And in trusting themselves they can have clarity in the grieving process with their spouse.

The partner can experience internal strength amid the storm around them and find courage for the next healthy steps, which can include building on the strength of the relationship.
