Faith, Trust, Evidence, and Risk: How to Respond to Uncertainty with Confidence
A Talk by Dr. Windell Gill EdD, PSAP, PMAP (Relational Recovery Coach, Daring Ventures)
About this Talk
Recovery is a faith walk. Recovery requires both the betrayer and the betrayed to believe/trust that healing can happen in a relationship that is not only functional but meaningful and even enjoyable. That is very difficult to believe when you are in the throws of being discovered and in the bind of betrayal trauma. There is no spiritual bypass in the Bible. Even God says, "Come let us reason together" and Jesus said, "Come to me and learn of me." So even The Lord does not expect us to trust without evidence.
But the question is, "How does a couple move forward in faith sorting through the devastation of betrayal?" Those who have been betrayed will learn how they can embrace the challenge of faith by learning to develop an informed trust around the evidence and accept the reality of risk Those who have done the betraying will learn how to manage their behaviors and responses to help the one they betrayed accept the uncertainty of going forward in the relationship.
