How to Avoid Relapse & Resentment While You Wait for Your Wife to Heal
A Talk by Pastor Noah Filipiak (Beyond the Battle Ministries)
About this Talk
If you’re a man who has overcome sexual addiction in any form, I want to congratulate you on a huge accomplishment. This is truly something to celebrate and praise God for. Because it’s such a significant accomplishment that you’ve worked so hard for, it’s natural to think that once this box is checked, everything should return to normal. That your wife should celebrate with you and welcome you back with open arms on all levels of intimacy.
There will be many great sessions at the Choose Connection Summit that lay out why this will not be the case in your marriage. It’s very important that you understand that things won’t be back to normal on Day 1 (even though you are free from your sin now), that it will be a long and slow process, and that things may never fully return to how they once were.
But what THIS session is about is what you must do in the meantime to avoid relapse and resentment while you’re waiting for your wife’s long healing process to take place. When you’re ready for intimacy, but she’s not, the thoughts of “Is this even worth it?” won’t be far away.
Learn how you must equip yourself for this crucial stage of the recovery journey so that you, your ministry, and your marriage can bear fruit for decades to come.
